‘Gossip Girl’ Gives Us the Chance of a Lifetime

Chris may have his moment now but Jessica's will come later, she KNOWS it will.

Sometimes we get pissed off at America. “America,” we say, when we feel like we are being tested, “Why do you make so many mean people, and stupid people, and arrogant people, and fat people, and unfriendly cashiers?” And America is like, “You’re just jealous,” because America knows that will always stump us, even though it doesn’t really make any sense. But then there are some moments when we are so glad we live in the U.S. of A. Because it is a meritocracy! A land where your dreams can be achieved, as long as you want it enough! And as long as you own a formal gown in a cool “icy” color, such as ivory, silver, light-gray, slate, ice-blue, ice-violet, and are basically thin and blond and white or you know, white-acting:

Central Casting NY is seeking Non-Union talent with elegant, full-length formal wear to work as background in an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl. We are currently seeking women who can portray Upper East Side types between the ages of 18 and 28 with formal gowns in cool “icy” colors such as ivory, silver, light grey, slate, ice blue, ice violet, etc.

And sometimes, just sometimes, America ups the ante and hands you a chance to really make something of yourself!

And sometimes she gives it to your FUCKING co-editor:

We are also seeking gentleman who can portray 18-28 y/o with full traditional black tuxedos with ivory or buff colored vests.

Sorry, we got a little overexcited there. But you know, it’s fine. Some people are just meant to hang around in the background for a little while, because some people’s special chances come later in life. Some people just have different paths, you know. Because it’s all a journey.

CW Orders 2 More Episodes

Gossip Girl’s ratings aren’t the only thing growing this season.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the network has ordered two additional episodes of the show, bringing its season 2 total to 24.

The move comes as the gap between Gossip Girl’s massive hype and relatively paltry ratings has finally started to narrow. The soap is up double digits over last season, and its sophomore surge has even helped lift its lead-out, One Tree Hill, which thrills me to no end.

Gossip Girls not to be on 30 Rock

We reported to you awhile ago that Blake and Leighton would be appearing on 30 Rock, well apparently not anymore.

EW.com’s Michael Ausiello, who first reported that the duo would be appearing on the Emmy winning NBC comedy, now says it’s not happening.

Ausiello says a 30 Rock insider tells him the guest appearance by the Gossip gals has been called off due to “logistical reasons” – no more details are given. Wonder if there were actual problems or just scheduling conflicts. We will keep you posted if we hear any other details.

Casting scoops for Gossip Girl

wallace-shawn-cyrus-rose-gossip-girl-nc.jpgThree new characters are heading to Gossip Girl for multi-episode arcs to shake things up a little — Cyrus Rose, Max and Stella.

Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride, Clueless) has been cast as Cyrus Rose, father of Serena’s upcoming love interest Aaron Rose (John Patrick Amedori).

According to the Gossip Girl books, Cyrus is a wealthy real estate tycoon who will be a love interest for Blair’s mom Eleanor Waldorf. And if the show were to follow along with the books, Cyrus would eventually marry Eleanor.

wade-allain-marcus-gossip-girl-nc.jpgAmong his many parts in movies and television shows, Shawn also does work as a voice actor for animated films and TV series, including his role as “Rex the Dinosaur” for the Toy Story movies.

Wade Allain-Marcus (American Mall) will play Max, a hip photographer with ties to the New York fashion and art world who is attractive and manipulative. I wonder who he will be manipulating?

stella-maeve-emma-gossip-girl-nc.jpgAccording to OK magazine, Stella Maeve will play Emma, the teen daughter of a Yale University alumni who Blair (Leighton Meester) gets to babysit. Only Emma has been reading up on the socialite and has plans on how Blair can entertain her.

More Details on “Inconceivable” Casting Scoop

Early last month, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly broke the news that Wallace Shawn would be guest starring on the CW’s Gossip Girl. And this week, TV Guide reported that Shawn will be playing a love interest for Blair’s mother Eleanor Waldorf. Shawn will appear on Gossip Girl for a multiple-episode arc beginning on November 11, to kick off November sweeps.

You may remember Wallace Shawn as the Sicilian criminal mastermind who was outwitted by Westley in The Princess Bride. He is memorable for his catchword: “Inconceivable!” Now, he’ll be joining the ranks of the Upper East Side as the father of Serena’s new beau, Aaron (guest star John Patrick Amedori).

There aren’t a whole lot of details about how Wallace Shawn’s arc will play out yet, but I have read the entire Gossip Girl book series so I do know that he’ll be playing a man named Cyrus Rose, a wealthy Jewish real estate tycoon. Approximately six months after he and Eleanor get married, Eleanor gives birth to a baby girl, whom Blair names Yale in honor of the college she most desires to attend. Blair is no fan of Cyrus because he is old and fat and has a taste for wearing the tackiest outfits. He has a son named Aaron, a hippie dippie vegan who smokes only herbal cigarettes, who does indeed have a relationship with book-verse Serena.

I hope that Gossip Girl the show will stick to its literary roots a bit with Shawn’s character. I would love to see him decked out in puce-colored suits and garish gold watches. I’m not sure whether the powers that be behind Gossip Girl will have him getting married to Eleanor, but that might be an interesting turn of events as well. That way, Eleanor and Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) can become the desperate housewives of the Upper East Side.

The next new episode of Gossip Girl, entitled “New Haven Can Wait,” will air on Monday, October 6, at 8pm on the CW.

Interview with John Patrick Amedori

Dan who? There’s a new guy in town and Serena kissing him! The latest development on Gossip Girl is sure to have the entire Upper East Side buzzing. After all, Serena’s liplock with the mystery man was caught on a JumboTron in Times Square.

Here’s the scoop: John Patrick Amedori is set to appear in four episodes of the scandalous CW show (the first airs Oct. 27) as Aaron Rose, a new beau for Blake Lively’s Serena van der Woodsen. The Maryland native, 21, talked to PEOPLE about his new role, kissing Blake (he’s friends with her real-life boyfriend Penn Badgley!) and being in the middle of the the paparazzi-fan swirl called Gossip Girl.

Tell us about your character, Aaron Rose.
He’s definitely a part of that Upper East Side [world]. I think he’s got a lot of money. But he chooses not to be around that. He probably lives on the Lower East Side or in Greenwich Village.

How does he get involved with Serena?
He has an art show at Dan’s father’s gallery. Serena goes to see Dan. He takes notice of her and remembers her from camp. She doesn’t remember him at first. That’s pretty much how they start talking.

There are pictures of you kissing Blake Lively in Times Square with everyone watching. What was that like?
It was crazy. At first, I think Blake and me were nervous. When I walk in front of the camera, I kind of just block everything out and it’s just Blake and me doing the scene. [Then] you realize our faces are as large as possible on this JumboTron and then reality sets in. Read the rest of this entry »

Gossip Girl hunk Penn Badgely heard that the blogosphere is abuzz about 90210’s skinny starlets and how they are too thin for tv.

The 21-year-old actor told Popeater that he’s “never been proponent of the thin L.A. girls” and is glad that the females on his hit CW show “aren’t bone-thin.” (He’s currently romancing his on-and-off-screen girlfriend Blake Lively.)

Penn had some advice for the girls of 90210 (also a CW show): “I hope they eat a double cheeseburger or something.”

Sounds like there’s a feud brewing between the casts of 90210 and Gossip Girl!
